Test Your Knowledge of Parlays and Spreads
Most professional gamblers consider parlay bets to be “sucker” bets.
Parlay bets contain more risk than traditional bets for what reason?
It requires more than one team winning to win the bet
You lose the entire wager if just one of the teams in your parlay loses
You bet $100 on Chelsea (-110) to win and $100 on Manchester (+130) to win. If both win, you would collect $220.91 for your wagers. How much more would you have gotten approximately if you had done a parlay on those two matches instead?
It would be the same
What do sports books want bettors to do with parlay wagers?
Bet two-team parlays
Bet three-team parlays
Bet as many teams as possible
Not bet parlays at all
Making parlay wagers is always a bad move.
It is called “blanketing” the spread when a team wins a match by more than what the bookmakers have set the spread at.
If the spread and money line for a team was -1 ½ (+150) and you bet $100 on that team, how much would you have to bet to win $600 and how much would the team have to win by?
$400, 1 goal
$600, 2 goals
$600, 1 goal
$400, 2 goals
If the spread and money line for a team was + ½ (-125) and you bet $125 on that team, how much would you have to bet to win $1,000 and what result would you need by the team?
$1,250, draw or win
$1,250, draw, win, or lose by 1 goal
$1,000, draw or win
Unlike three way match outcome wagers and two way match outcome wagers, underdogs are often the smart wager to make in spread betting.
Preparation equals what?
